Marvin Gaye was a tortured soul and one of the most gifted RnB singers ever. His albums, What’s Going On and Let’s Get It On, are two masterstrokes of genius. Unfortunately, they were also his last two great albums as cocaine and other addictions consumed Gaye’s creactivity and energy. In 1984, eleven years after the release of Let’s Get It On, Marvin Gaye was shot and killed by his minister father. Earlier this week, I came across this a capella version of Marvin Gaye singing, I Heard it Through the Grapevine. This is the prodigy of Marvin Gaye. It will put goosebumps on your goosebumps. Turn it up.
